After playing Ali in Squid Game, Anupam Tripathi became a household name. He has won fans from many countries and his admiration is increasing. He said his mother warned him not to take it when he was enjoying new success.
Anupam was raised in Delhi 11 years before moving to South Korea. The actor was seen in small roles before getting his big break in the squid game.
He told News18 about his mother’s reaction, “She is so sweet. I told her that her son is now being heard from all over the world. She was so happy for me and greeted me. She also said, ‘Ziada Utna Boy. Banw Zameen Bar Dhika Kar Rakna (Do not see your success. Be rooted). ‘She gave me that humility and that kind of upbringing, and I thank her so much. My relatives and everyone I know are so excited about the show, they only have the best things to say.
In an interview with Variety, Anupam revealed that he landed the role only after returning to South Korea after a holiday in India. “I was not in perfect physical shape at the time because I came back after eating home-cooked food and once they said, ‘You’re doing this character,’ I was fine, now I have to put on weight and I have to work for it.
Anupam starred in the K-plays The Sun Descendants, in which Jong-ki and Chang Hai-kyo played the lead roles, and the Artal Chronicles. He appeared in space sweepers again earlier this year featuring the song Jong-ki.
