Why should Jadeja bat before Dhoni in Qualifier 1?

Ravindra Jadeja and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have had a contradictory IPL season. Jadeja compared the Chennai Super Kings batting charts with a strike rate of 145.51 and Dhoni 95.04. In 14 league games, Jadeja scored 227 and his captain 96. So why is Dhoni batting ahead of Jadeja?

Although the left-arm spin-all-rounder appeared to be the finisher, he was underutilized. In 14 games, he faced 156 balls. Batting more in order and facing more deliveries can provide even bigger returns. It will be interesting to see CSK team management participate in Qualifier 1 against Delhi Capitals on Sunday in the wake of three defeats in the thought process and spin.

Dhoni Color Off

Return to the CSK vs DC Group League match played in Dubai five days ago. Batting first, CSK scored 136/5 while Dhoni scored 18 off 27 balls. His fans want to forget how DC fast bowler Anrich Nortze harassed him in his shots. Once a great finisher, the 40-year-old struggled to keep pace throughout the IPL. Without regular cricket he cooked very little.

Coming to Jadeja No. 7 and facing just two deliveries is ridiculous. DC won by three wickets with two balls to spare. CSK lost a maneuver by not promoting Jadeja in this order. And along with the catch given by K Gautam to Shimran Hetmire, it was a reason for their defeat.

The same scene in CSK’s last match against Punjab Kings. With 15 balls to spare, Dhoni came back to bat ahead of Jadeja. The left-hander, as a consequence, did not give up the luxury of continuing his innings on a pitch that required some time for a new batsman to settle down.

There is an idea that Dhoni needs batting time in the middle before the playoffs. However, with the Jadeja promotion cost to increase the order, it did not seem like a wise choice. CSK’s batting term was mainly used by their openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis – with 533 and 546 respectively. In the first part of the tournament in India, Moin Ali made his presence felt no. Shows in 3, but in the second phase in the UAE, especially in the final stage of the group stage, the form of Southpa is back. Ali did not reach the 30-plus mark in his last four innings.

Jadeja batting improvement

In the Test series in England, India captain Virat Kohli was active enough to promote Jadeja in the batting order ahead of Ajinkya Rahane, who was out of form. Jadeja’s batting record for the last two seasons in international cricket deserves promotion. Even with Suresh Raina, the power he used anymore – 160 runs in 12 matches – CSK clearly could not fully utilize Jadeja’s main form.

The 32-year-old has grown as a batsman, sometimes changing the course of the match alone and the CSK fixture with the Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi is an example. The three-time IPL champions lost two wickets in an over – Raina and Dhoni and handed over the initiative, but the asking rate rose to 13. When 26 off 12 balls was required, Jadeja flattened Prasid Krishna in 22 overs. .

Qualifier 1 losers get a second bite at the cherry, but winning it is clearly the preferred way to reach the final. Eyes are fixed on CSK using Jadeja as a batsman.

Capital evolution

One of the positive stories of the IPL is the evolution of DC as a team over the last two seasons under the leadership of head coach Ricky Ponting. Shreyas Iyer or Rishabh Pant, the young captain worked under the guidance of a top level coach and worked wonderfully for the Delhi-based franchise. This is in stark contrast to how CSK’s system works, but capitals have benefited from the policy.

They reached the final last year and topped the group stage with 20 points from 14 matches.

In terms of balance, DC holds better than their qualifier 1 rivals, covering all bases — top-order, middle-order, pace and spin.

The optimal evolution of the team is marked by its consistency. For the young team, this is also the biggest challenge, because success usually does not follow a straight line. DC became incredibly consistent – they lost just four games on the term – by adopting consistency. Even in the absurd last group game, they did not turn big. Despite losing to DC Royal Challengers Bangalore, the ball taken by Prithviraj Shah sparked confidence.

T20 matches, however, make the difference between football’s penalty shootouts and sometimes just two or three deliveries.

Boasting about DC Nortje’s speed, Kagiso Rabada’s craft and Avesh Khan’s purple patch, CSK wants to dismiss the openers first and target the middle order. But if Jadeja, CSK comes to a think-tank decision, batting in 5th place could be the antidote.
