Head coach Mike Hesson said Virat Kohli’s decision to step down as Royal Challengers Bangalore captain after the ongoing season had no effect on the team’s performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

KCR handed over the loss of nine wickets to RCB by KCR, a day after Captain Kohli announced that he would step down as IPL team captain at the end of the ongoing season.

Hesson believes it is important to make an announcement as soon as possible.

“No, I (don’t think so). It is important to get any kind of distraction quickly. So, we talked about making that announcement as soon as possible, so all the players know about it, ”Hesson told a post-match press conference.

“But it really didn’t have any impact on today’s performance. We were definitely not sharp because we needed to be with the bat, we were not adapting to the conditions, we lost wickets at clubs, everything we could not do as a batting group.

“But I still have faith in this group, we’ll turn around very quickly,” Hesson added.

Kohli’s RCB announcement comes two days after he decided to step down as national T20 captaincy after next month’s World Cup.

Varun Chakraborty of KKR returned with 3/13 in the RCB batting line-up.

“I think it’s very difficult to start against the emperor, so we are losing wickets, which means he was able to attack the new batsmen,” said the RCB head coach.

Hesson lamented that the batsmen were not so sharp, but refused to blame the team composition for the defeat.

“Team composition today is not an issue. We got to 1/42, and when we went back more than that, we probably got the toss wrong, so we scraped to 1/42, but not exactly 93 wickets.”

“We have to find a way to get ourselves to 150, and whether that’s enough is also a matter of debate, because the ball started to slide, but overall we were not sharp enough with the bat,” he hated.

Hesson said AB de Villiers did not want to risk by handing over wicket-keeping responsibilities, so changes had to be made to the playing XI.

“You saw that Ab de Willers did not have gloves, so we should definitely take care of AB. He is a very important player for us and not a person we can risk while behind the stumps, so it is unfortunate for Rajat (Patidar),” he said.

“We need to keep a keeper-bat, batting at three, and KS Bharat, who has been the best in the entire camp leading up to this game, certainly deserves his inclusion.

“We want to have a real batsman at six, we have the potential, we have six more bowlers, and Sachin Baby is left-handed and he clearly gave us some options with the ball. , ”He signed.
