The defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad will continue in Royal Challengers Bangalore. The huge defeat of Chennai Super Kings to Punjab Kings means that Kohli Sena has a chance to stay in the top two if they surpass SRH. As for fourth place, Kolkata Knight Riders’ defeat of Rajasthan Royals made the Mumbai Indians impossible to equalize.

The RCB’s first two aspirations slipped further
Points -16, NRR –0.15
Virat Kohli and company would reach 18 points if they win against SRH and in that case their fate was in their hands. But the defeat rooted them to 16 points with a net run rate of -0.15. To finish in the first two teams, they must now beat DC by over 113 runs. If they are chasing, for example if their target is 142, to achieve a positive net run-rate, the RCB will have to crack the target within 16 overs. Yet they lag behind the CSK net run-rate.
