Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey tested positive for Kovid-19 on Tuesday, a day after IPL team bowling coach El Balaji tested positive for the deadly virus.
This was confirmed by Indian Premier League sources a few hours after the 14th edition of the lucrative T20 league was suspended indefinitely due to the spread of COVID-19 in its bio-bubble.
Hussey test reports came in Tuesday. “Hussey was tested and his sample was positive. We sent it for re-testing, but it also came back positive,” an IPL source told PTI.
On Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers Sandeep Warrior and Varun Chakraborty along with CSK bowling coach Balaji also got positive results.
The outbreak had earlier postponed two IPL games. Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals veteran spinner Amit Mishra have been ruled out of the league after being declared positive by Kovid-19.
