‘Completely disgusting’: Maxwell calls for online abuse after RCB exits IPL 2021

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) swashbuckling batsman Glenn Maxwell has hit out at online trolls for blaming him and his RCB teammates after losing the IPL eliminator match against KKR on Monday night.

KKR won the Virat Kohli-led RCB in a game of punches and counter-punches as Sunil Narine made the difference. In the ‘Do-or-Die’ match, Narine took 4 wickets (Kohli, De Villiers, Bharat & Maxwell) and only 21 runs.

RCB lost four wickets after the match leading to online abuse. Maxwell scored 290 in the second half of the IPL with a strike rate of 143.56. A frustrated Maxwell, who scored 15 runs in an 18-ball innings on Monday, went on Twitter and posted a lengthy note cracking down on trolls. “Some of the worst that flows on social media is absolutely disgusting! We are human beings who offer our best every day. Try to be a good person instead of spreading abuse …”

Recognizing the true fans, Maxwell said, “Thank you to the real fans who shared the love and admiration that the players gave their all! Unfortunately, there are some horrible people out there who make social media a terrible place. This is not acceptable !!! Please do not be like them !!! ”

Another Australian RCB player, Dan Christian, scored nine off eight deliveries and 29 off 10 balls with the ball, revealing that his partner’s Instagram page was the target. “I don’t have a great game tonight, but it’s a sport,” he wrote. “But please leave her.”
