Delhi Capitals assistant coach Mohammad Kaif said “clarity of mind” was important for his players when they faced the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL Qualifier 2 here on Wednesday.
The winner of Qualifier 2 will face Chennai Super Kings in the title fight on October 15.
“Tomorrow is a big day. It’s about how we deal with stress. Every game is a stressful game in the IPL, but this game is a different challenge for us,” Kaif said before the game.
“We need to be calm and keep a steady mind under pressure. Clarity of mind is very important to us.”
Kaif said he had the players to win Qualifier 2 but needed to lose to Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 in Dubai on Sunday.
“We have suffered back-to-back losses, but now it’s about to come back. We have to grow after the defeat in our game against KKR. And we have players who can win matches. There are a lot of players who are experienced and in form,” he said.
The former Indian cricketer said they would take confidence in their previous win over KKR in the league stage.
“We have played all the KKR bowlers in the past and we have won against the team. We beat them in the first half of the tournament.
“We lost to KKR in the UAE stage of the tournament, but we were in control at some point in that match. However, in the next match, both teams will be under the same pressure as both teams are playing for a place in the final,” Kaif said.
