The scribes of “Deadpool 3” accept the MCU

A third film in the “Deadpool” franchise has been in development for several years and fans are still curious and wary of how the project will integrate with its new owners, Disney.

The movie is an official part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is decidedly not R-rated, which begs the question of how that will work with Deadpool’s style of self-awareness, parody, abrasiveness, and lewdness.

Recently, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick spoke with Post Cred Pod about fitting into the MCU and they seem to be playing it straight, not changing both Deadpool and the world around him to be like the regular MCU. Reese says:

“[It’s] a wonderful opportunity to fish out of the water [comedy]. Deadpool is a lunatic at the center of a movie… Dropping a lunatic into a very sane world is pure butter. It is going to be very fun.

Are we absolutely finding the fluke and gold in that situation, or are we trying to… Deadpool will be Deadpool. Now, when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross the line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, ‘Maybe not that joke.’ but i think they [Disney] They’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing.”

Marvel Studios has yet to set a release date for a third “Deadpool,” though it is expected to be ready sometime in 2024.
