Taron Egerton Hopes For ‘Opportunity’ To Land Wolverine Role After Meeting With Marvel

Taron Egerton says he met with Marvel Studios to play Wolverine: “Hopefully, they’ll give me a chance”

British actor Taron Egerton confirmed that he recently met with Marvel Studios to take on the role of Wolverine, originally played by Hugh Jackman.

While promoting his new Apple TV+ series Black Bird, the 32-year-old Golden Globe winner opened up about his aspirations to play such an iconic member of the X-Men and Avengers franchises.

“I would be excited, but also apprehensive, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I wonder if it would be very difficult for someone else to do it,” he said. New York Times.

He continued, “I would be excited but also apprehensive, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I wonder if it would be too difficult for someone else to do it.”

Egerton went on to say ‘hopefully if it happens’ that they would give him ‘a chance’.

The Rocketman star previously worked with Jackman, who last played Wolverine in 2016’s Eddie the Eagle and as a member of the X-Men in 2017’s Logan.

In response to Marvel fan talk about wanting him to play the superhero in 2019, Egerton said british gq: ‘For someone to think I’d be good for the role is really flattering.’

“I love Marvel, but it’s just fan stuff. There is no basis for those rumours,’ he said at the time.

Three months ago, news broke that Egerton had split from his longtime girlfriend, Emily Thomas, after six years together.

The artist has reportedly now signed up for celebrity dating app Raya to find his next lucky lady.

Having removed all traces of the assistant director from her Instagram profile, sources close to the star have claimed their relationship became ‘strained’ due to their busy schedules.

An informant said Sun: ‘Taron and Emily have been very busy over the last year and that put a lot of pressure on their relationship.

They have separated and it has not been easy for either of them. He’s taking some time for himself now, but he’s open to meeting someone else soon.
