Though the film opened at the Indian box office with Rs 2.97 crore, it grossed Rs 1.53 crore on Monday. According to Taran Adarsh, Shang Chi was able to earn a total of Rs 14.45 crore.
Directed by Destiny Daniel Cretton, Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings are based on a relatively little-known comic and feature mostly Asian or Asian American cast, including Tony Leung, Aquafina and Michelle Yoh.
Indian Express’ Ekta Malik gave the film 2 out of 5 stars in its review. “The film could be a real game changer, especially in 2021, when the hate crime against Asians is at its highest level, after the Kovid pandemic. Unfortunately, it only receives surface scratches and peripheral approvals to identify Asian culture and ideas,” she said in her review.
Shang-chi and Legend of the Ten Rings, which introduced the new Avengers to MCU, which was released on September 3rd.
