neighbours favorites Stefan Dennis and Jackie Woodburne joined the fray for the disappointing soap opera tribute at this year’s Logie Awards.
Channel 5’s iconic soap opera has been on our televisions for 37 years, but we’ll say goodbye to Ramsay Street for good in August when its the final episode airs.
Unfortunately, the show didn’t get the sendoff it deserved at the Logie Awards last month, which only featured a short montage of clips from the show’s performance.
Dennis, who plays Paul Robinson on the Australian soap opera, criticized the show’s organizers for snubbing neighbours in his mediocre tribute.
“For me to get a 40-second tribute, fuck you,” he told the herald sun. “It would have been good for neighbours to get some kind of industry vote, recognition or accolade.
He added: “For the industry to turn around and say thank you neighbours, you’ve lasted and made history, here’s a little gift. But we have to fuck everything.”
Jackie Woodburne, who plays Susan Kennedy, joined Dennis in expressing her disappointment at the parting.
“I thought it was disrespectful to us and to the industry,” he said. “That was the best they could do. It felt like a slap in the face and undeserved because I know how hard everyone works.”
“It was dismissive and in terms of celebrating our industry and the fact that it’s been running for 38 years, they could have done a much more professional job.”
Ryan Moloney (Toadie Rebecchi) He also reflected on his experience at the ceremony: “When we entered the room, we ended up being separated and stuck at two different tables. It was horrible!”
He only went on to explain that he was frustrated with two former cast members (daniel macpherson Y Nat Bassingthwaighte) being invited on stage instead of neighbours veterans who had been with the program “for almost 30 years each”.
“I mean… we’re in the damn [Logies] Hall of Fame,” he continued. That’s not how you treat people and a show that’s in the Hall of Fame. I mean, good luck to the Logies, really.”
neighbours It airs Monday through Friday at 1:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Channel 5 and airs on My5. In Australia, the show airs Monday through Thursday at 6:30pm on 10 Peach and airs on 10 Play.
