weddings are not everything black tie affairs these days. Some are more formal than others, so it can be hard to decide what to wear to some nuptials.
This is exactly the dilemma a woman has found herself in before an upcoming wedding. she has found a gorgeous dress she wants to shop for the event, however her boyfriend isn’t so sure it’s appropriate.
So he took Mumsnet to ask others for their advice. She shared a photo of the dress in question and captioned the post: “Is this dress inappropriate for a wedding?”
“My boyfriend said he thinks this dress isn’t appropriate for a wedding because it’s red? Is this new to me?” she wrote. “The last two weddings we’ve been to I’ve used [sic] red and said nothing. So I wonder what people’s thoughts are. Is this appropriate?”
The dress is a ‘red bardot padded sleeved drape dress’ sold at Pretty Little Things. It is currently for sale and comes in a variety of colors.
“I wouldn’t wear it to a wedding because of the style rather than the color. It’s too revealing and flashy so it might draw attention away from the bride,” one reader commented.
“I think the color is the only thing you shouldn’t have to worry about in this dress,” they said.
“I wouldn’t wear that to a wedding,” said another.
Another commented: “Maybe he’s trying to be polite by saying the color is the problem, it looks like a flamenco dress.”
“The color is ok, not sure about the style. If the wedding is at a religious venue, I personally wouldn’t show as much skin,” added another.
One person wrote: “The red is nice but that dress isn’t. Well it’s nice but it gives off cruise ship lounge singer vibes.”
“I don’t think that dress would be appropriate for a wedding in any color. Very revealing, very detailed (it can compete with the bridesmaids). Have you bought it yet?” another asked.
