Jake Gillenhall leads Sam Hargrave’s superhero movie protagonist

Hollywood star Jake Gillenhall is teaming up with extraction director Sam Hargrave for the superhero movie protagonist.

Based on the Image comic book series by author Rob Lifefield, this project comes from Studio 8. It will be directed by Horgrave from a script adapted by Mark Guggenheim, the deadline reported.

Gillen‌hall will play John the Prophet, a man captured by the Germans at the end of World War II and subjected to scientific experiments that give him superhuman strength.

In the film the protagonist is seen volunteering for a German experiment at the end of World War II to feed his family.

“After a bomb attack buried him alive and held him underground for 20 years, he woke up again in 1965, where things were not great for the Prophet.

“Without him the world would have gone ahead, his daughter would have been angry at him, and KGB agents would be after him to create super soldiers from his blood,” the official plotline read.

The Prophet will be co-produced by Studio 8’s Jeff Robinov and John Graham and Prime Universe Films’ Adrian Askarih, Rob Lifefield and Brooklyn Weaver.

Gillenhall is currently starring in The Guilty, directed by Antoine Fuqua, which was released on Netflix earlier this month. He will next star in Michael Bay’s crime drama Ambulance, starring Yahya Abdul-Matin II.

Hargrave made his feature directorial debut with Chris Hemworth’s Extraction and is currently working on a sequel to the hit Netflix movie.
