Harry Potter Reunion Special, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Back to Hogwarts, Ready to air for the New Year. In the special, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint reunite with fellow cast including Robbie Coltrain, Helena Bonham Carter, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman and Ralph Fiennes. While this is certainly exciting news for the Potterheads, the ones most likely to miss on the much-anticipated show are the actors who immortalized HP characters on screen. We especially miss the actors who have died 20 years since the franchise started.
Needless to say, when you think of the early Harry Potter movies, along with the famous trilogy of Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). The late great Alan Rickman, He was awesome in every frame he was part of. Of course, extra credit to the casting directors for choosing Rickman T. Not every one of those movies is a perfect adaptation, but some things are almost perfect. Playing Rickman Antihero Severus Snape is definitely one of them. With his dark clothes, dark beard, matted hair and a cynical, dry and partially amusing tone – Rickman reduced everything about Snape to dot.
As someone who has read a total of seven books and seen eight movies in the series, after seeing Rickman Snape’s performance, I can safely say that I constantly painted his face whenever the name came up during my reading. That edge in his voice, the anger and angst of the past, his face tightened with unfulfilled desires and secrets and vengeance. Rickman knows what he’s doing. He is doing magic.
Even before Snape’s real destiny was revealed, Rickman was aware of his past and his future, and thanks to author JK Rowling, the actor was requested to provide internal details to enhance his performance. As director Chris Columbus and Daniel Radcliffe revealed in a separate article, the popular actor never told anyone the secrets assigned to him.
Alan Rickman passed away on January 14, 2016.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – Remember the brilliant old face of the artist who played Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films? Michael Gambon actually did a great job. But, it is difficult to discuss how intelligent Harris was as a spiritual, all-knowing magician. By fate, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) was his last film role before Richard Harris’ death on October 25 of the same year. But can you believe there was even a time when Harris had no intention? Playing Dumbledore? Yes, you read that right! Harris is not a game to the HP world, but his little granddaughter was forced to.
Helen McCrory has starred in three of the best movies in the world over the last Harry Potter. And she had a lot of big roles before she breathed her last in April of this year. But Narcissus is the mother nature to save her devious son Draco, and the need for her to attend to him and leave him a better world is printed throughout the book. Helen brings out the buried, silent part from that character through her stellar, loyal Narcissus character. Interestingly, Helen McCrory initially played the role of Narcissus’ sister Bellatrix Lestrange, but had to withdraw from that episode due to her pregnancy. Lestrange is played by Helena Boneham Carter.
Known as a loud, skeptical and annoying Mr. Vernon Dursley to many fans, British actor Richard Griffiths had an amazing screen presence, which he performed during his low screen time in Potter films. Once in a conversation with Dominion Post, the actor revealed that he is ready to make absurd lengths to increase his screen time. And with his own consent, he once gave Rowling an idea for the author in the premiere of the third Potter film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Speaking to the publication, the actor said, “I told her, ‘(Vernon)’s wrapped up in Hogwarts on Parents’ Day, and you thought it would be funny if it’s confusing to wander around the place?’ She said ‘no, I don’t think it was funny’. And that’s the end. Contrary to his character, Griffiths is known for lighting the room with his wit and ingenuity. The actor died in 2013.
