Eva Mendes DEFENDS Ryan Gosling’s Platinum Blonde Ken Doll Look for Barbie Movie

Eva Mendes is a big fan of Ryan Gosling’s Ken doll transformation for the highly anticipated Barbie movie.

And the 48-year-old defended her 41-year-old partner’s much-debated look, which sees him sporting a platinum blonde and orange-tan head, during Tuesday’s episode of The Talk.

‘People know he’s not playing a real person, right? He’s playing a fake person,’ she declared after The Talk co-host Natalie Morales referenced the backlash.

Many fans took to social media to criticize Gosling’s transformation as “horrendous,” as well as questioning how the stylists managed to make the normally stunning man look “unattractive.”

The first official promotional image of The Notebook actor’s portrayal of Ken was released earlier this month.

Posing against a pink Barbie pillar, a tan and white blonde haired Gosling showed off his gleaming, chiseled chest in a revealing double denim ensemble with the waistband of his Calvin Klein-inspired ‘Ken’ underwear peeking out.

Mendes recalled seeing the promotional image for the first time and how his teenage self was immediately awakened.

‘Well, first of all, I saw the picture and the 14-year-old in me was like, “Ahhh.” But you know, it’s a funny picture and he’s trying to be funny. So it worked on every level,” he explained.

The Hitch actress revealed that she was so enthralled by her former boyfriend’s transformation into Mattel’s beloved doll that she asked if she could keep a part of his costume.

“When I saw it, he sent it to me from work and I said, ‘Can I have that underwear please? Please. I never ask for anything.'”

Fortunately for Mendes, Gosling was more than happy to hand over his Ken doll’s drawers.

Mendes and Gosling rarely post about each other on social media as they mostly keep their romance private and under wraps.

The couple began dating in September 2011 after working together on the film The Place Beyond The Pines, but were friends for a “long time” before their romance.

At the time, a source told Us Weekly that “there’s always been this strong chemistry between them…this was just a matter of time.”
