His mother leans over to the bed and gently explains that they will give him one last drink.

‘We brought you rum dad,’ she says. ‘Let’s put it in the injection and put it in your mouth.’

Mrs. Anne squeezes the liquid into her father’s mouth while he remains motionless.

‘Tastes good?’ she asks.

His father shakes his head and gently nods before Mrs. Anne and her mother laugh.

“Hell yes,” says Mrs. Anne. ‘Hell yeah!’

Social media users have praised the family’s actions.

‘Everyone deserves a family like this around them in the end. I am so sorry for your loss,” one person wrote.

Another person added: “As a former hospice nurse, this absolute makes me feel so happy, cheers grandpa.”

Other social media users wondered how Ms Anne was allowed to bring alcohol to the hospital.

Mrs. Anne replied that she hid the can in her jacket and then closed the door behind her before measuring the last drink.
