To celebrate Tom Cruise’s 60th birthday, filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie has released a behind-the-scenes image of the star filming a stunt for the second of the upcoming “Mission: Impossible – Reckoning” movies.

McQuarrie’s photo shows Cruise, famous for doing his own stunts, hitched to a bright red vintage biplane flying high over the UK countryside.

This would coincide with a report in Sun in December of last year from Cruise then learning to fly a Boeing-Stearman biplane for a major sequence to film this year in what is currently shooting “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.”

Those trials took place in Cambridgeshire in the UK with Cruise allegedly hooked on the wing. He hung upside down as the plane flipped, leaving the actor sitting right side up. The pilot then caused the plane to nosedive and spin while Cruise returned to the cockpit.

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” finished filming late last year ahead of its release on July 14, 2023. “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two” began filming earlier this year ahead of its release. release on June 28, 2024.
