Cate Blanchett is the latest jewel in the Louis Vuitton crown

Oscar winner, former Armani ambassador and SK-II skincare expert Cate Blanchett has the knack for transitioning from one winning role to the next, having signed a contract with luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

As the latest ambassador for the French brand house, along with Emma Stone, Chinese actor Zhou Dongyu and Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, Blanchett will promote Louis Vuitton’s fast-growing jewelery division in a series of glittering advertisements will release next month.

“I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to collaborate with Louis Vuitton, a truly iconic house with enormous cultural reach,” Blanchett said in a press release. “Wearing the magnificent pieces created by Francesca Amfitheatrof is a dazzling pleasure.”

Blanchett is, as always, up to date. Statement jewelry is replacing handbags when it comes to coveted items for those who distinguish their Birkin bags from their Mimco wallets. LVMH, owners of Louis Vuitton and stable jewelry brands Tiffany & Co, Bulgari and Chaumet, reported 19 percent organic revenue growth in its watches and jewelry division for the first quarter of 2022.

In May, LVMH rival Richemont, which owns CartierBuccellati and Van Cleef & Arpels, combined annual sales announced €11 billion ($16.8 billion), an increase of 49% from the previous year, for its jewelry division.

“The post-COVID world has altered the way consumers behave in many ways,” says Andrew McClaren, managing director of Bulgari Oceania. “Locally and abroad, we are seeing significant growth in the appeal of Bulgari, creating an impressive demand for our high jewellery.”

In May, the Italian jeweler brought his fine jewelery collection to Australia for the first time, hosting VIP guests for private showings at the Swifts mansion in Darling Point, Sydney.

“Australian customers had a unique immersion in our brand in a private setting with the support of our Italian jewelery director, allowing them to experience all the pleasure that Bulgari has to offer,” says McClaren.
