Eight years after effectively retiring from Hollywood with 2014’s “Annie” remake, Cameron Diaz returns to the screens.
Jamie Foxx, who previously worked with Diaz on Oliver Stone’s “Annie” and “Any Given Sunday,” revealed the news in a video announcing Netflix’s new action-comedy “Back in Action,” which will begin production in late this year.
Story details about the film are under wraps. In the clip, Foxx enlists football champion Tom Brady to help Diaz come out of retirement.
Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses”) is directing from a script he wrote with Brendan O’Brien (“Neighbors”). Beau Bauman is producing.
Cameron, I hope you’re not mad that I recorded this, but there’s no going back now. I had to call the GOAT to bring another GOAT. @Cameron Diaz and I are BACK IN ACTION: our new movie with @NetflixFilm. Production starting at the end of this year!! pic.twitter.com/vyaGrUmbWb
