ABC confirms that Oscar 2022 will have a host

2022 edition of Academy Awards Broadcaster ABC has announced that it will have a host after a three-year hiatus. Hulu Originals & ABC Entertainment President Craig Erwich shared the news that the Oscar 2022 celebration will be hosted by the official host during the Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour on Tuesday.

“You first heard it here, and I can confirm you will be the host for the Oscars this year,” Erwich said. Asked who would host the annual awards ceremony, he joked, “It could be me.”

Actor Kevin Hart, who is set to attend the Academy Awards in 2019, has gone without hospitality after being embroiled in controversy over his past gay tweets.

For future issues, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has decided to continue the process of hosting the Oscars without an official host.

Jimmy Kimmel last hosted the Academy Awards, hosting the ceremony in 2017 and 2018.
Other hosts over the past decade include Chris Rock (2016), Neil Patrick Harris (2015), Ellen DeGeneres (2014), Seth McFarlane (2013), Billy Crystal (2012) and James Franco / Anne Hathaway (2011).

Also on Tuesday, AMPS announced that veteran Glenn Weiss will be directing the Oscars for the seventh year in a row. The 2022 Oscars will take place on March 27, 2022.
