Virat Kohli, who stepped down as captain of the Indian Test team, will now serve in Team India as a batsman. Virat, who captained the Indian Test team in 2015, stepped down from the Indian captaincy in 2022 in all formats. Virat stepped down as T20 captain last year and took over the ODI captaincy a month ago.

Virat has not captained any format since leaving the Test captaincy and two and a half months ago he captained the Indian cricket team in all three formats. He lost the captaincy of all three formats in just 68 days. After this, the era of Virat Kohli in Indian cricket is over, so questions are being raised as to who will replace him in the near future.

He last took over the T20 team command in November

Virat Kohli, who has been in poor form for a long time, initially decided to step down as captain of the T20 team. On September 16, 2021, he announced on social media that he would not be captaining India in the lowest format after the T20 World Cup. He played the last T20 match of his career on November 8, in which he captained India.

The ODI team lost the captaincy in December

The BCCI ODI captaincy was also snatched from Virat after he stepped down as captain of the T20 team and was replaced by Rohit Sharma. Rohit has already taken over the command of the T20 team. On December 10, the BCCI announced the Indian Test squad for the tour of South Africa and also announced that Rohit would now captain the ODI team in place of Virat.

There has been a lot of controversy over this. Kohli said he was informed of the matter before stepping down from the captaincy, but Ganguly said that Rohit was handed over the captaincy after talking to Virat.

Relinquished Test captaincy in the middle of the Africa tour

Virat Kohli also stepped down as Test captain after losing the Test series 1-2 in Africa. This time too he announced his resignation from the captaincy through social media. Virat said he would always try to give 120 per cent in every job, but could not do it when he could not. Now Virat will play as a batsman in all three formats.

Is the King Kohli era over?

Virat Kohli has ruled Indian cricket for a long time. In 2012, he created an image as a young and aggressive player by scoring hundreds. Virat is the shining star of India at this time. Since then, every year he has reached new heights in the world of cricket and set many records. After this, the first year he failed to score a century was 2020. After this, questions began to arise about him and in early 2022, Virat left the Indian captaincy from all three formats.

Virat Kohli, who has not scored a century with the bat in the last two years, can now be dropped from the squad due to poor form. That was not possible as long as he was the captain of the team. Under such circumstances Captain Kohli’s era in Indian cricket is now over, but if his bat runs, he can still remain a favorite of Indian cricket fans.
