Lekhapal Ranjith along with three of his accomplices committed a mass rape on a 16-year-old girl. The family members came to know about this when the girl was 4 months pregnant. Following this, on October 11, the father filed a complaint against four men for gang-raping their daughter.

She gave birth to a baby on December 14 at Hallet Hospital in Kanpur. However, both the mother and the baby died. Since Wednesday morning, troops from several police stations, including SDM Bilhaur, Outer Additional SP Aditya Shukla, CO Bilhaur and Sadar, have been at Postmortem House.
