In view of the importance of the Dalit vote bank in Uttar Pradesh, all leaders and parties are engaged in the task of putting their respective caste groups on the political board. In this regard, there were reports of an alliance between the Samajwadi Party and the Azad Samaj Party chief, but later party chief Chandrasekhar Azad told the media that Akhilesh did not need scheduled caste votes, so there would be no alliance between the SP and the Azad parties. . Chandrasekhar says he will now contest the elections alone.
Will the SP suffer if there is no alliance?
Akhilesh Yadav is contesting this time with the help of smaller parties. Dozens of Dalit leaders from the BSP were recruited into the SP last year in view of the SC vote bank. In October last year, the SP, led by former senior BSP leader Mithai Lal Bharti, launched the ‘Babasaheb Ambedkar Vahini’ for Dalits. While in the BSP, Bharti held several key positions, including the Purvanchal Zonal Coordinator. The alliance with Chandrasekhar Azad has been under discussion for the past few months. Chandrasekhar Azad met Akhilesh several times during this period.
