The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday hit back at the Congress. Bhagwant Pal Singh Sachar, a close aide of Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and president of Amritsar Dehat, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Along with them, Nimisha Mehta and Kuldeep Singh also caught the BJP lotus.

Punjab BJP president Ashwani Sharma on Sunday handed over BJP membership to dignitaries of all these political parties and leaders of other organizations at an event organized at the state BJP headquarters in Chandigarh. Union Water Resources Minister, BJP Punjab Election In-charge Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and National General Secretary Tarun Chugh were also present on the occasion. All the members who joined the BJP were welcomed. Ashwani Sharma said the BJP needs a double-engine government for the development of Punjab.

Welcoming the new members to the party, the central leadership, the state leadership and Jeevan Gupta said that all of them had joined the party as they were influenced by the BJP’s peasant and populist policies. He said he gets full respect in the party. Through all this, he strengthened the organization by educating the people of the respective areas on central government policies and party ideologies as well as securing the victory of party candidates in their assembly constituencies. On the other hand, after joining the party, all the members thanked the party leadership and promised to fulfill the trust of the organization.
