The government has reappointed Shaktikant Das as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for another three years. He will hold this position until December 2024. Shaktikanta Das was appointed as the 25th Governor on 10 December 2018.

Shaktikanta Das took over as the Governor of the Reserve Bank on 10 December 2018. Served as the 25th Governor of the RBI. Shaktikanta Das is also a former Finance Secretary and a member of the Finance Commission. In 2018, she replaced Urjit Patel. In September 2016, Urjit Patel was appointed as the 24th Governor of RBI, but abruptly resigned as RBI Governor due to personal reasons before the end of his term.

Born on 26 February 1957, Shaktikanta Das is an MA IAS officer in the history of MA Passout and Tamil Nadu cadre. Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Budget, Commissioner in the Ministry of Finance, Special Commissioner in the Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, Secretary in the Ministry of Industries, Tamil Nadu and many other posts.
