Important facts about Ganga Expressway
It will be the longest expressway at 594 km. Starting from Bijouli village in Meerut, it is found on National Highway-19 in Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Judap battalion in Prayagraj. After the construction of the expressway, the distance from Lucknow to Meerut will be reduced to just five hours. The speed of vehicles on the Ganga Express is 120 km per hour. The longest bridges will be 960 meters long on the river Ganga and 720 meters long on the river Ramaganga. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 36,230 crore. Land acquisition from farmers for the expressway is almost 95 per cent complete.

Army gets help
A 960-meter airstrip will be constructed in five villages, including Badhodar, Chamarpur Kalan and Peeru villages in Jalalabad. This will make it easier for the air force to reach Nepal and China. After Bareilly, Shahjahanpur will prove to be a new base for the Air Force.

These facilities are available on the expressway
The design also describes the facilities provided along the expressway. This includes parking for cars, buses, petrol pumps, electric charging stations, service stations, food outlets, terraces, drinking booths, and toilet blocks. The facilities will be 250 meters long and 200 meters wide.

Employment is available and an industrial cluster is formed
Industrial corridors will be constructed on both sides of the expressway. Industries will be set up near the expressway. This will provide employment to 25,000 people. Educational institutions and agro-based industries will be set up along the highway. It is useful for setting up cold storage, handloom industries, food processing units, market and dairy based industries etc.
