  • Dust particles are more likely to spread in the air as the construction takes place without covering the structure.
  • Garbage is being dumped in many places and garbage is being set on fire
  • There are over eight lakh vehicles in the city and the jam caused by them is also a major cause of pollution.

According to data released by IQAir, on Thursday, Benares was the third most polluted city in the country with AQI 339, while Jaunpur was fourth with AQI 333. Among the urban areas of Varanasi, Saket Nagar is the most polluted with AQI 425, Lanka AQI 361, Balabhadra Colony 339, Ramnagar 312, Imley Road 296 with AQI. Pollution in the air has increased due to dust blowing on the road, burning of rubbish and cold in some places.

BHU Meteorologist Prof. SN Pandey said that repair work should be done as soon as possible after digging the roads. Add water while digging deeper. The agency digging the road must submit a report to the Pollution Control Board, the administration, and the government. They are cutting down trees and constructing multi-storey buildings without even covering it. Any structure should be covered and trees should also be planted. Create a master plan for traffic and work on proper diversion.

Air pollution is measured in micrograms per cubic meter. PA 2.5 refers to the cells that absorb and particles smaller than 2.5 microns. A PM 2.5 concentration is considered the best indicator for measuring air pollution.
