The global platform ‘Truecolor’ has compiled a list of the top 20 countries affected by spam calls in its fifth annual Global Spam Report, which analyzes data from January 1 to October 31, 2021.
37.8 billion spam calls blocked, highest sales
Truecaller helped detect and block 37.8 billion spam calls from 300 million users. In 2021, the highest share of spam calls will be sales calls (93.5%). The report states that the corona epidemic has changed not only communication behavior in the world but also spam policies.
Fraud by showing up as a bank representative
According to the report, spam calls related to sales and telemarketing in India have increased exponentially. This is the reason why the country has moved up from ninth to fourth place in the spam calls rankings. At the same time, another interesting fact came out that the most common scam in the country through spam calls is still going on in the name of KYC (Know Your Customer). In this, fraudsters take information of KYC documents from people who represent the bank, wallet or digital payment service and commit fraud.
