After the first list released by the Congress for the Punjab Assembly elections, the excitement over the second list has now begun. The Central Election Commission is expected to release the second list on Monday evening. No decision has been taken on the candidature of 12 party MLAs in the first list.

The Congress central leadership on Saturday released the first list of 86 candidates amid a tense battle between Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy and Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu. In this, all the party seniors including Chief Minister Channy and Sidhu were brought into the field. Now 31 of the total 117 assembly seats are yet to be finalized.

The Central Election Commission has started brainstorming on the announcement of candidates for these positions. Party sources said the central leadership would also decide the candidature of 12 MLAs for the remaining 31 seats. Currently the party MLAs are in a dilemma whether to campaign or not. Or start a conversation with another party.

Party sources said the decision on the second list was taken by Monday afternoon. The central leadership is likely to announce the second list later in the evening. The second list is likely to be delayed as there is still controversy over Sidhu and Channila on five tickets.
