The Punjab government on Thursday transferred the Director General of Police (DGP). Now Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota has been replaced by Siddharth Chattopadhyay as the Director General of Punjab Police. Navjot Singh Sidhu has been opposed to the appointment of Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota as DGP from the outset. He resigned as state president for this reason. However, Sidhu later agreed to the High Command’s suggestion. Sidhu objected that the Punjab government had to replace the DGP before the Assembly elections.
