Detained JMM activists protested against the attack by BJD activists.
The incident took place in the afternoon when JMM activists were protesting at Biju Patnaik Gol Chowk in Baripada town. On this occasion some protesters tried to climb the statue, while others placed placards with slogans against the ruling party in the circle around the statue.
Based on the FIR registered by the BJD leader, the police arrested six persons and remanded them in custody at the Town Police Station. Police on duty even threatened the protesters when they asked them not to disrespect the statue of the former chief minister.
