Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has strongly condemned Karnataka Congress MLA K Ramesh Kumar for making controversial remarks on rape. Priyanka Gandhi expressed her displeasure over the matter by tweeting strongly condemning the remarks made against the Congress MLA. He said in his tweet that such comments were outrageous. Ramesh Kumar’s controversial statement drew tremendous criticism and many women leaders also demanded his dismissal.
The BJP has targeted Congress president Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on the issue and questioned why it has remained silent on the issue. The BJP has accused the Congress of having a history of making such objectionable statements against women.
The turmoil among UP leaders has increased
As the statement was seen as a major setback to Priyanka Gandhi’s election strategy for women empowerment, the statement made by the Congress MLA raised impatience among Congress leaders in UP. Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi had a BJP Bhago, Dearness Hatao rally in Hyderabad in Barambaki on Saturday and party strategists needed to control the damage ahead of time.
