A fire at a psychiatric hospital in Osaka, Japan has killed at least 27 people. The fire was reported on the fourth floor of an eight-story building. The fire spread rapidly and even people trapped on the ground had no chance of escape and within an hour the entire floor was burnt to the ground. According to the fire department, the blaze has been brought under control and rescue and relief efforts are ongoing.

The devastation caused by the fire can be clearly seen in the incident pictures. According to local media, several mental patients are being treated on the floor where the fire broke out. Authorities said the fire broke out around 10.18am. 70 firefighters rushed to the scene and put out the blaze. However, 27 of the 28 people injured during the rescue operation could not be rescued.
