A large number of tourists are coming to the state in the last months of this year. According to government figures, 1.27 lakh tourists visited the valley in November. Gulmarg, a world-famous tourist destination located at a distance of 60 km from Srinagar, has been visited by a large number of tourists even after the previous snowfall.
Immediately after the onset of winter and the first snowfall, this tourist destination is the first choice of tourists from home and abroad. At the same time, the number of tourists will increase during the new year and Christmas. Currently, a large number of tourists visit the Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam valleys for recreation. This has also opened employment doors for locals.
Srinagar-Leh highway closed due to snowfall on Guraj, Sonamarg and Jozilla roads
A meteorological official said there was a possibility of dense westerly pressure over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Due to this, there may be heavy snowfall in the upper parts of the valley and a moderate snowfall in the plains.
The Srinagar-Leh NH was closed for traffic on Thursday due to snow on the Guraj and Sonamarg, Jozilla roads in north Kashmir. According to the department, the dry winter weather will continue for the next few days. Mercury may drop further.
