Opposition MPs chanted slogans in Parliament
Members of Congress, Left parties, DMK, Trinamool Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Shiv Sena, AAP and various opposition parties held placards in the Well of House on Wednesday and chanted slogans in support of their demand. He criticized the government for holding placards reading ‘Save Democracy and Suspend Me’. Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge has repeatedly raised the demand, but said the suspension would not be lifted unless the government and the speaker apologized for his behavior.
Suspended for assault on marshals
Twelve opposition Rajya Sabha MPs have been suspended for the winter session for allegedly attacking secretariat staff inside the House on August 11 and November 29, the last day of the monsoon sessions of Parliament. Leader of the House Piyush Goyal said that he respects the sentiments of the members but has seen how women marshals are insulted and attacked in this House. Goyal said the government was ready to consider his request, but apologized for the manner in which the women marshals were attacked and the manner in which the people behaved to protect the security of the House.
He said it was shameful not to even be willing to repent for his actions. After attacking and beheading Marshall, all he had to do was apologize. Can give a minimum of courtesy to those who serve this House. But if they expect that they will attack the marshal and insult the female marshal and still have the right to return, I think it is wrong. It is unfortunate that senior members of the opposition are not ready to repent for the actions of their allies.
