At a press conference held after the meeting, farmer leader Yudhbir Singh said the government had reviewed the assurances given to us. The government did not set up any committee. No consultation took place. No action has been taken to withdraw the Railways and Delhi cases. The government has not withdrawn cases anywhere except in Haryana.
So far the government has not acted as per the agreement. Therefore, the United Kisan Morcha opposes the government on January 31 as a nationwide anti-promise day. Government effigies are burned in district centers in all cities and towns. If the government does not agree by February 1, the mission will start work in UP and Uttarakhand.
The government did not sack the minister in the Lakhimpur case. The government is not taking any action against the minister and the government is protecting him in the vote bank affair. Our comrades were imprisoned under 302 and Rakesh Tikait decided to visit Lakhimpur Kheri for 21 to three days and talk to the authorities about this. If there is no trial even after that, the front will be held in Lakhimpur Kheri. In addition to this the farmers are cooperating with the trade unions 23 24 movement.
The United Kisan Morcha has distanced itself from politics in contesting elections. The decision of our colleagues was hasty. Those companies are not affiliated with the United Kisan Morcha. We will review these companies after four months, until then they are no longer part of us.
It is noteworthy that the farmers’ agitation which started demanding the repeal of the three agricultural laws continued for more than a year on the borders of Delhi. After the repeal of the law, the farmers compromised with the government on a few more demands and announced that they were withdrawing their concern. On January 15, the farmers announced that they would evaluate the measures taken by the government.
