Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and found Kirti’s body covered in blood in the room. There were several sword wounds on his body. Police have registered a case of murder and arrested the accused’s husband Mohammad Azad Khan, 21. Azad is a professional rural service driver. On his orders, the police also seized the knife used in the crime.
According to police, Kirti’s uncle, who actually lives in Itah, UP, hails from Labor Chowk in Radha Vihar in Burari. On October 14, she got married to Azad, a resident of Nand Nagari, a rural service driver, in a court of honor, against the wishes of her family members. Kirti works in a private company. It was here that the rural service driver met Azad. The two fell in love and got married.
The two are currently living at their relatives’ house at Street No. 10 in Kamal Vihar, Burari. On Saturday morning, Kirti’s brother Bhola received information about the incident with Kirti. By the time Bhola arrived at the scene, his sister was lying in a pool of blood in the living room. Bhola lodged a complaint with the police at 9.55 am. Police arrived at the scene and recovered the body. During interrogation, police found that Kirti’s husband was on the run from the scene. Police raided and arrested him on Saturday.
A knife used in the crime was also seized from the terrace of the house where Kirti was killed. Azad told the court that he got into an altercation with Kirti the day after the marriage. Tu-tu-main-main once again between the two on Friday night. Angered, Azad stabbed her to death. The accused then fled. Neighbors informed his brother Bhola. Police are now investigating the matter.
