The victim’s statements were made in court and the victim complied with her statements at the time of filing the FIR. The case was registered at Sansad Marg police station. Confirming the case, New Delhi District DCP Deepak Yadav said the accused could not be arrested till Wednesday evening.
According to New Delhi district police officials, the victim and accused Hemant were working for All India Radio. The accused is working as a transmission executive.
The victim had lodged a complaint with the Sansad Marg police station in May 2020 alleging that she had made contact with the accused. This acquaintance became friendly. According to the victim’s complaint, the accused first had sexual intercourse with her on the pretext of marriage in the parking lot of the Akashvani Bhavan complex, after which she was blackmailed and raped.
The accused youth was also married elsewhere on Monday, a senior official from New Delhi district said. According to the victim’s complaint, the case was registered at the Parliament Street Police Station under sections such as rape and intimidation. The accused lives in Mukherjee Nagar.
Information that the accused was on the run after the case was registered. A police official said information on the case registered against the accused would be handed over to higher authorities soon. Police also gave counseling to the girl. The victim was shocked by the incident.
