CBI action: CBI arrests naval officers in intelligence leak case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two retired officers, including a naval officer. The CBI has taken action in the case of leaked intelligence information related to the modernization of the Kilo Class submarine.

According to the news agency ANI, after the arrest last month, the Navy ordered a high-level inquiry, top government sources said. The trial will be led by the Vice Admiral and the Rear Admiral to prevent such incidents.

After receiving inputs from the concerned agencies, the CBI arrested the serving naval officer. This officer currently belongs to the rank of Commander in Mumbai. The CBI is also in talks with the arrested officers who are in touch with them.

Defense sources said that the Indian Navy was fully cooperating with the CBI in the investigation. The status of the investigation was also explained to senior government officials, including agencies that look after national security.

Sources said that as soon as the matter was known, Navy officials set up a five-member investigation team without delay. It is headed by a Vice Admiral level officer. Apart from this, a parallel probe has also been launched to detect other potential leaks.

Gujarat ATS BSF personnel arrested
Recently, the Gujarat ATS (Anti-Terrorist Squad) arrested an employee posted in the Bhuj Battalion of the BSF (Border Security Force). The employee alleged that the instant messaging app was spying for Pakistan through WhatsApp and sending sensitive information to a neighboring country.
