Congress star campaigners Kanhayya Kumar and Navjot Singh Sidhu Mandi are refraining from calling on Himachal leaders in the Jubbal-Kotkhai, Fatehpur and Arki Assembly by-election campaigns, including the parliamentary seat. Both the party candidates and the Congress leaders are not demanding star campaigners in the by-elections.

Recently, state Congress in-charge Rajiv Shukla Mandi came to the parliamentary constituency and Fatehpur assembly constituency for the by-election campaign. Kanhayya Kumar also went to Mandi and Fatehpur with Shukla. After this, BJP leaders started attacking the Congress on Kanhayya Kumar’s previous statements.

In addition, the BJP social media cell has also started targeting Kanhayya Kumar and the Congress. After the return of Kanhayya Kumar, state Congress leaders and candidates were unable to venture to call him for campaigning again.

Meanwhile, Congress members are reluctant to invite Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is in controversy with his statements, to campaign in Himachal. Sidhu has been placed on the list of star campaigners but so far none of the Congress candidates have been called for campaigning. However, state president Kuldeep Singh Rathore has already said that only star campaigners on the list of candidates will be called for the campaign.
