Dr. SN Subbarao, the Gandhian leader who liberated Chambal from thieves, has died. Rao breathed his last at a hospital in Jaipur on Thursday morning. His body, which was kept for a final glimpse, will arrive in Morena on Thursday evening. In the evening, his funeral will be held at the Gandhi Seva Ashram in Jaura.

Dr. Subbarao has dedicated his entire life to social service. Dr. Subbarao surrendered 654 dacoits on April 14, 1972 at the Gandhi Seva Ashram in Jaura. Socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan and his wife Prabhadevi were also present at the time. In Dholpur, Rajasthan, 100 dacoits lay their weapons at the Joura Ashram in front of Gandhiji’s portrait, while 100 dacoits laid their weapons.

At the Gwalior Chambal handle, Dr. Subbarao became known as Bhaiji among his friends. Dr. Subbarao laid the foundation stone for the Gandhi Seva Ashram in Jaura, which now works for the malnourished and destitute up to Shiopur. Dr. Subbarao Gandhiji started conducting the thirteenth program at Triveni Sangam Ghat in Sheopur. He continues to work with his team to bring tribals into the mainstream of development.
