Listen to the news
After the panics and limitations of the corona era, the art world was in turmoil. Painting exhibitions have begun to take place in some art galleries in Delhi, but at present performances involving drama, dance or music are not permitted. Theater groups and companies have been financially distressed that booking an auditorium and paying for the rest will not be easy in the coming days.
The artist became a delivery boy
Renowned artist MK Raina says he has done a project and recently returned from Kashmir. But in his view the situation in Delhi and the surrounding theater is much worse. The Kejriwal government talks a lot about culture and artists, but the auditoriums have not yet opened or the DCP office has not issued performance licenses. This is not the case in Mumbai and Pune. Auditoriums were opened there. Why you can open cinema halls, not theaters.
No money to book the hall
Arvind said the artists should now think ahead and come up with a definite plan on how to revive the institutions. Even at such times Asmita is constantly performing plays on her campus and also training artists with workshops. If any artist or organization wants to work, we provide space for them. Artists and organizations need to break the dominance of large auditoriums. The tradition of working with less resources and available space should be started.
Ramlila had only 60-70 spectators
Akshara Theater has drama and KAB talk directed by RS Raghu on Saturdays and Sundays. According to Dhruv Shetty of Akshara Theater, shows have been going on here since last month and about 50 spectators are coming. It is not difficult for us to get permission for this. But we are giving halls to at least two shows for any one play.
Obviously there are a lot of difficulties, but the theater and art world is looking forward to going back to the old days again. Of course, this requires the help of the government and large corporations as well as large corporate groups so that artists can be promoted.
