Traffic on the 270-km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and Mughal Road was halted on Saturday as several parts of Jammu were lashed by rain and snow.

The Jammu-Srinagar Highway has been completely closed in Ramban district due to heavy rains that caused part of the mountain to collapse. On the other hand, the traffic on the Mughal road came to a complete standstill due to snowfall. Three people, including two women, were killed when landslides broke in Pulwama due to incessant rains.
One person was seriously injured in the crash. An official said some Buckerwalls were staying in Norpora with tents. He was buried in it as debris fell from the mountain. It has been raining heavily since morning in the plains with rain and snow falling on the mountains. Water was cut off in several areas due to power outages. Meanwhile, Budgam police rescued 16 members of four families from heavy snowfall, Jammu and Kashmir police said.

Heavy snowfall lashed parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. According to the Srinagar Meteorological Department, the plains will receive heavy rainfall, followed by snowfall at Sonmarg, Pahalgam, Gulmarg and other highlands.
Weather conditions are likely to remain the same in the next 24 hours. The town of Shopian in south Kashmir received four to five inches of snow in the morning. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed due to landslides and rockslides in the Ramban area.
