Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has called on the international community to support the people of Afghanistan, saying that isolating a country plagued by war is harmful to the world.

Khan, who chaired the second meeting of the Apex Committee on Afghanistan, said Pakistan would support the Afghan people in all possible ways to avert a humanitarian crisis.

An earlier statement had called for the beleagured PM to resign. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the world would not repeat the mistake of severing ties with Afghanistan.

Khan highlighted that Pakistan was already committed to providing five billion rupees in humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, including food and emergency medical supplies.
