Former CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) Vinod Roy has unconditionally apologized to Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam. Roy has apologized for portraying Nirupam as one of the MPs who put pressure on him not to name former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the CAG report on 2G spectrum allocations. Roy mentions this in his book and repeats it many times in the media as well.

In 2014, Nirupam Roy filed a defamation suit. The Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Patiala House accepted Roy’s apology, recorded Nirupam’s statement and settled the matter. At the same time, Nirupam said Roy should apologize to the country for all his fake reports regarding the UPA government’s allocation of 2G and coal blocks.

In an affidavit filed in the court, Roy alleged that Nirupam’s name was accidentally mispronounced. The former CAG also said that the statements I made on Nirupam, which appeared and appeared on television, were ‘actually incorrect’. I hope Sanjay Nirupam will consider my unconditional apology, accept it and end the matter now.
