Ranbir Kapoor, the son of famous actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, grew up with the superstars around him. The actor started his career with Saawariya and was successful with films like Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. However, after a fair stake, he raised his first Rs. Was able to deliver a 300 crore hit, with a biopic based on the life of Sanjay Dutt with Sanju. Ranbir will celebrate his birthday on Tuesday. The actor, who is based in Jodhpur with his girlfriend, actor Alia Bhatt, is 39 years old.
In an old interview with former journalist Rajiv Masandra, Ranbir talks about the ups and downs of growing up in such a star-house, along with his relationship with his parents, and how he wants to make a name for himself in the industry. Although Bollywood was born in the heart of the first family, Ranbir said he did not know about his father Stardom at first. “I didn’t really know he was an actor because we were always protected from the sets,” he said.
During the interview, he revealed that he had not seen his mother Neetu Kapoor’s movies because she felt ‘protected’ by him. Neetu Kapoor had an early reputation as a child artist and later became a prominent woman in films like Khel Khel Main and Rafu Chakkar. She gave up movies after marriage.
He said, “I am a little ashamed of our mom being an actress, I don’t really watch her movies. I love her so much. I scare her, I’m so embarrassed to see her on screen in person, and anyone can judge her. I stay away from her movies but yes, I am a big fan of daddy movies. Asked if he took anything from Rishi Kapoor, he said, “I have my own style … I’m not trying to copy him, but I do not think he has the acting style to copy. But a lot of people said I looked like him and smiled like him.
When asked about Rishi Kapoor as Assistant Director during AA Ab Laut Chalein, Ranbir recalled, “I am the Assistant by default, my ICSE boards are exhausted and you usually go on vacation after that. So Dad said to me, ‘Why didn’t you come? You can help me by taking a vacation. ‘It was time for me to really start a bond with my father, because in my growing years he was busy and we didn’t have a friendly relationship. When I was a kid I was scared to look at him, he would tell me to eat vegetables and I started crying. But Aa Ab Laut Chalein is the time we bonded, stay together after we packed up and he takes me to fancy restaurants.
Currently, Ranbir Kapoor has his hands full because he is directing an untitled film with Shanshera and Sandeep Wanga Reddy’s Animal and Shraddha Kapoor, Love Ranjan. Yash Raj Films has revealed that Shanshera will be released on March 18, 2022. He is in a stable relationship with Alia Bhatt and there is a lot of speculation that the two will be getting married soon.
