The badminton player has been accused of making sexist remarks Saina Nehwal, Actor Siddharth The social media platform on Tuesday apologized. In an open letter, he called Saina his champion and said he was trying to joke with his original comment, but it ‘did not land’. Shuttler Siddharth responded to the apology by saying that the subject was ‘related to women’ and wondered why the actor changed his attitude after making the comment.

“He only said that and he’s apologizing now. I was shocked to see him trending on Twitter that day. I did not speak to him, but I’m glad he apologized,” she was quoted as saying at the ongoing India Open. “Look, this is about women, He should not target such a woman, but it’s not fair, I’m not worried about it, I’m happy in my place and God bless him, “she added.

Recognizing himself as a ‘friend’ to the feminist movement, Siddharth wrote in his open letter, “Dear Saina, I apologize for my obscene joke I wrote a few days ago in response to your tweet. I may disagree with you on many things, but even my frustration or anger at reading your tweet cannot justify my voice and words. I know I have more grace than that. When it comes to jokes … if a joke needs to be explained, it’s not a very good joke to begin with. Sorry about the unsavory joke. ”

He continued, “But I must emphasize that my rhetoric and humor have no malicious intent as attributed to many people from all walks of life. I assure you that I am a strong feminist ally and that in my tweet there is no gender and no intention of attacking you as a woman. I hope we can put this behind us and you will accept my letter. You will always be my champion. Honestly, Siddharth. ”

In his original tweet, which has now been deleted, Siddharth commented on Saina’s condemnation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security breaches in Punjab recently. Rekha Sharma, chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), erred in her remarks, calling for her account to be suspended and for reporting the matter to the police.

Saina, who belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party, spoke to PTI about the incident. She said, “Yes, I’m not sure what he said. I like him as an actor but it’s not good. He can express his feelings with good words, but I guess it’s Twitter and you will be identified with such words and comments.
