It has been eight years since Ritesh Batra came to the screen for The Lunch Box. Starring Irrfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nimrat Kaur, the film resonated with audiences around the world, especially from Mumbai.
Recently, Nawazuddin opened up about working with the late actor Irfan and shooting for popular local trains in Mumbai for The Lunchbox.
“For me, shooting for a movie on a packed train was one of the best experiences. The whole compartment was booked for our shoot. Irfan Bhai and I came to our getup for the movie and sat among the locals. No one really realized but everyone was perfectly synced to our scene. The same local train beauty “Even those who are not in our unit have joined the lunch box,” Nawazuddin told the Times of India.
In 2013, when the lunch box was released, there were rumors that Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were not comfortable working with each other and that the two did not care about each other on the sets. However, now the Manto actor has put an end to all these rumors. He said, “Irfan Bhai was like my older brother and I have many precious memories of working with him before ‘The Linkbox’ happened.”
Nawazuddin also added how Irfan took him to meet Danny Boyle. He said, “While casting for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, he took me to meet Danny Boyle without an appointment. Walk to meet such a big director without any prior notice. So, I gave my part to another actor.I learned a lot from Irrfan Bhai … even how to meet a big Hollywood director without an appointment (laughs).
In terms of work, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has No Lands Man, Bole Chudian and Jogira Sara Ra Ra in the pipeline.
