Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar is undergoing observation in the ICU of the city hospital here, the doctor treating her said on Saturday. Dr Pratit Samdani, an associate professor at Breach Candy Hospital, said Mangeshkar would stay in the hospital for a while. “She is being treated in the ICU. Have to wait. Pray for her recovery. She will remain in the hospital, ”Samadani told PTI.

Regarded as one of the greatest singers of Indian cinema, Mangeshkar started his career in 1942 at the age of 13 and has over 30,000 songs in many Indian languages. During her seven-decade career, she sang many memorable songs such as “Ajib Dastan Hai Yeh”, “Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya”, “Neela Asman So Gaya” and “Tere Liye”.
The singer – known as the Nightingale of India – has been acclaimed with numerous awards and honors, including the Padma Bhushan, the Padma Vibhushan and the Dada Saheb Phalke Award and the Multiple National Film Awards. She is also the recipient of the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.
