Actor Akshay Kumar’s mother, Aruna Bhatia, who was admitted to the Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai, passed away on Wednesday morning. Via Twitter, Akshay informed his fans and paid tribute to his mother who was in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU). The cause of her death is not yet known.
After his tweet, several of his industry colleagues offered their condolences to Akshay Kumar. Actor Ajay Devgn tweeted, “Dear Aki, my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your mother. May Arunaji’s soul find eternal peace. My condolences to you and your family. Mother Shanti.”
Actor and director Pooja Bhatt wrote, “My deepest and most sincere condolences! I hope you navigate this phase and the years ahead with love and strength.” Actor Dia Mirza said, “My sincerest condolences @mrsfunnybonesakshaykumar and family. Our prayers and love to you all at this difficult time.”
Film director Hansal Mehta tweeted, “My deepest condolences and prayers for strength to your family and you.” So very sorry for your deep loss. Actor Nimrat Kaur said, “My sincerest condolences and prayers to you and your entire family at this critical hour. Satnam Wahi Guru akshaykumar.”
Earlier in the morning, Akshay tweeted, “She was the core of my life. Today I feel unbearable pain at the core of my existence. I left what I called Aruna Bhatia in peace this morning and was reunited with my father in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family pass by. By this period. Umm Shanti.”
On Tuesday, Akshay urged his fans and followers to pray for his mother’s health. He wrote: “I am touched beyond words regarding your concern for my mother’s health. This is a very difficult hour for me and my family. Each of your prayers will help me a lot.”

Akshay on Monday returned to India from the UK after learning that his mother had been transferred to the intensive care unit at Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai. He has been filming his next movie Cinderella in the UK for the past two weeks.
